ONTARIO LEGENDS’ NATIONAL QUALIFIER TAKES THE PETERBOROUGH SPEEDWAY STAGE
PETERBOROUGH, ON (June 25, 2019)- Earning a preferred starting spot in a prestigious national event would be near the top of any local racer’s career bucket list.
“Hopefully the weather has taken a turn for the better,” said Legends Series spokesperson Jeff Drimmie. “This is our first National Qualifier of the year and everyone is looking to get some track time leading-up to the Canadian Asphalt Nationals, coming-up around the middle of August at Sunset Speedway. To say that our drivers and teams are getting anxious would be an understatement.”
Drimmie and the Ontario Legends Series crew also announced that the Saturday, July 27th date at Peterborough Speedway will include double features, which could be a bonus for the drivers who’ll choose to run the back-to-back National Qualifiers – August 2nd & 3rd – at Sauble Speedway. Drimmie says that with the early-season cancellations because of the inclement weather, none of the teams have earned points locally since the Saturday, June 1st show at Peterborough.
Tour officials have been keeping a keen eye on the daily and extended weather forecasts. Teams are looking to accumulate valuable INEX points, as well as stats toward the 2019 series championship and the inaugural Clarke Motorsports Communications Challenge Cup, a series within a series that will see drivers rewarded for points earned during this year’s events at Peterborough Speedway.
The Saturday, June 29th show is part of the Summer Kick-Off presented by Lucas Oil Products at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road. Pit gates are scheduled to open at 2:30, with the general admission grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and the first green flag at 6:00.
